Mercy Market was shot on an iPhone during an artist residency in Rota, Spain. Originally installed in the Torre de la Merced, a convent that was partially destroyed by an earthquake in 1722 and re-built as a fishing market, the work addresses how architectural space can reflect psychological states.

Influenced by the surreal films of Maya Deren, (where beaches often function as mediators between fantasy and reality), monastic motifs, and vignettes from casual walks around the small coastal village of Rota, the diaristic film expresses a shifting dynamic between physical and psychological space to examine how notions of a structured subjective experience can be challenged.
